15-8-65 is the date of the 1st meeting
at the track that has been synonymous with Scottish oval racing. For 22 seasons Cowdenbeath was Spedeworth Scotlands main
home, until their departure at the end of the 1986 season.
The last ever Spedeworth Scotland meeting taking place on 30/11/86.
This was brought about by the then stadium owners wishing to sell
off the original pits area for housing, thereby bringing racing to an end. The houses were never to be built on the old
pits area, which today remain derelict behind the pitbend terracing allowing the track to reopen after remaining dormant for
less than 3 years.
June 3rd 1989, just over 2.5 years after its closure saw Cowdie reopen, as the Racewall
was born and continuing to this day, although 40 years after the track first opened rumours persist of an eventual replacement.
Probably the next couple of years presenting fact from fiction
