NEWTONGRANGE or "Nitten" as it was known just South of Edinburgh, was the original home of GMP for 8 seasons running from 1981-1988.
Nitten staged its 1st meeting and Brisca F2's 1st ever meeting in Scotland on 15th March 1981.
The last ever meeting the annual New Year at "Nitten" took place on 8th January 1989.
Then the stadium was shut with indecent haste after a public enquiry went against GMP despite very few local objections. The 1989 season which was thought to possibly be Newtongranges last was therefore cut short before it had begun.
Thereafter the stadium survived for 4 years until in 1993 the bulldozers eventually arrived.
Today the both the stadium and track are now long gone under new houses
