Originally brought into use in 1989 after GMP's hurried removal from Newtongrange. In its 1st era the track originally had 2 tarmac straights and a linkingl shale section.
By the time it's 1st era ended at the end of the 91 season it was all tarmac.
Over a decade later it came back into use in 2002 with both the hairpin and bottom straight widened and continues today.

Along with the rest of the entire Knockhill circuit, the trioval will receive a total resurface in time for season 2006 along with the widening of the top straight. The tri-oval at 500m its Scotland's largest Rod & Stox track
